The Art of Leisure; The Book
It is quite clear that we live in an anxious time. Individuals are anxious, the culture is anxious, everyone is on edge. Amongst other things, I believe this is a spiritual problem, I also believe that proper leisure - understood & attained - can help us ease some of that anxiety, if only briefly.
Leisure is grossly misunderstood, especially in the West. It’s equated to laziness, denial & neglect, which is far from what it actually means. In an attempt to clear up some of these assumptions I wrote a short essay on the topic; The Leisurely Manifesto:
But as I kept investigating the topic I realized that this idea deserved much more than an essay, so that essay became a book; The Art of Leisure.
And now that book has led me into a rabbit hole of infinite other topics. Some of which I will be writing about here in the newsletter, and others that I will be saving for future books as well.
I hope you all are well.
